Headline inflation rose to 3.1 percent in December 2015 from 2.9 percent in November. Inflation increased for several commodities: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 6.0 to 6.2 percent); housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 9.5 to 9.7 percent); transport (from -7.0 to -5.8 percent); and restaurants and hotels (from 6.1 to 6.2 percent). However, this was partly offset by inflation easing with respect to food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 0.9 to 0.7 percent); clothing and footwear (from 8.0 to 7.7 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 5.7 to 5.5 percent); and recreation and culture (from 6.3 to 6.1 percent). Inflation was unchanged for health (6.0 percent); communication (0.5 percent); education (6.6 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (7.3 percent).
The trimmed mean measures of core inflation and inflation excluding administered prices decreased from 3.3 to 3.2 percent and 4.7 to 4.5 percent, respectively.
