Inflation remains unchanged at 2.8 percent in March

In March, headline inflation remained at 2.8 percent, unchanged from February. Inflation increased for: clothing and footwear (from 7.3 to 7.5 percent); transport (from -5.5 to -4.8 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (from 5.9 to 6.0 percent). However, this was offset by lower inflation for: food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 2.2 to 1.9 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 7.0 to 6.6 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 6.8 to 6.3 percent); and health (from 6.4 to 6.3 percent). Inflation was unchanged for: housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (3.7 percent); communication (zero percent); recreation and culture (3.3 percent); education (6.3 percent); and restaurants and hotels (5.6 percent).

 

The trimmed mean measure of core inflation increased from 3.2 to 3.3 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices remained unchanged at 4.8 percent.
