Inflation falls to 4.3 percent in October

In October, headline inflation fell from 4.5 percent as at September, to 4.3 percent. Inflation eased with respect to: food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 2.6 to 2.5 percent); housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 3.4 to 3.3 percent); health (from 9.3 to 8.6 percent); recreation and culture (from 4.0 to 3.9 percent); restaurants and hotels (from 7.1 to 7.0 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (from 6.5 to 5.7 percent). However, this was partly offset by inflation increasing for clothing and footwear (from 6.1 to 6.2 percent). Inflation was unchanged for; alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.9 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (5.3 percent); transport (1.6 percent); communication (0.1 percent); and education (7.4 percent).

 

The trimmed mean measure of core inflation fell from 4.1 to 4.0 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices declined from 5.2 to 5.1 percent.
