Inflation falls to 4.5 percent in September

In September, headline inflation fell to 4.5 percent from 4.6 percent in August. Inflation eased with respect to a broad range of commodity groups, including: food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 2.9 to 2.6 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 9.1 to 8.9 percent); housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 3.7 to 3.4 percent); communication (from 0.4 to 0.1 percent); recreation and culture (from 4.2 to 4.0 percent); and restaurants and hotels (from 7.3 to 7.1 percent).  However, this was partially offset by rising inflation for clothing and footwear (from 5.9 to 6.1 percent) and furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 5.2 to 5.3 percent). Inflation was unchanged for; health (9.3 percent); transport (1.6 percent); education (7.4 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (6.5 percent).  

The trimmed mean measure of core inflation fell from 4.2 to 4.1 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices declined from 5.3 to 5.2 percent.
