Email Print

In June, headline inflation increased to 4.6 percent from 4.5 percent in May. Inflation increased for: clothing and footwear (from 5.6 to 5.8 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 4.8 to 5.2 percent); health (from 7.6 percent to 9.4 percent – mainly due to increased charges for hospital services); and miscellaneous goods and services (from 6.5 to 6.6 percent). However, this was largely offset by inflation easing with respect to housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 4.1 to 3.8 percent); and restaurants and hotels (from 7.7 to 7.6 percent). Inflation was unchanged for: food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.2 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (9.2 percent); transport (1.0 percent); communication (0.4 percent); recreation and culture (4.3 percent); and education (7.4 percent). The trimmed mean measure of core inflation increased from 4.1 to 4.2 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices increased from 5.2 to 5.3 percent.
