Inflation falls to 4.1 percent in November

Headline inflation fell to 4.1 percent in November, down from 4.8 percent in October. Inflation decreased across several commodity groups, including:food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 4.4 to 4.2 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 8.3 to 6.3 percent); transport (from 4.3 to 2.3 percent); and restaurants and hotels (from 6.7 to 5.9 percent). This was partially offset by increased inflation for: clothing and footwear (from 5.7 to 5.8 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 4.3 to 4.8 percent); health (from 5.3 to 5.4 percent); communication (from 0.3 to 0.4 percent); and recreation and culture (from 3.9 to 4.5 percent). Inflation was unchanged for: housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels (4.2 percent); education (4.7 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (2.0 percent). The trimmed mean measure of core inflation decreased to 4.0 percent from4.7 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices fell from 4.9to 4.7 percent.
