Headline inflation fell to 5.7 percent in July, down from 5.8 percent in June. Inflation decreased across several commodity groups, including: food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 5.0 percent to 4.7 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 10.6 percent to 10.4 percent); health (from 4.9 percent to 4.6 percent); transport (from 7.9 percent to 7.5 percent); and recreation and culture (from 4.4 percent to 4.2 percent). However, this was partially offset by higher inflation for: housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 3.2 percent to 3.4 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 4.5 percent to 4.6 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (from 0.7 percent to 0.8 percent). Inflation was unchanged for: clothing and footwear (7.3 percent); communication (no price change), education (4.7 percent), and restaurants and hotels (8.0 percent).
Both the trimmed mean measure of core inflation and inflation excluding administered prices fell from 5.7 percent to 5.5 percent.
