Inflation remains unchanged at 7.4 percent in December

Headline inflation in December was 7.4 percent, unchanged from November. Inflation decreased for several commodity groups: food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 7.4 percent to 7.3 percent); clothing and footwear (from 7.0 percent to 6.3 percent); housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 5.2 percent to 4.8 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance transport (from 5.7 percent to 5.4 percent); and restaurants and hotels (from 10.0 percent to 9.7 percent). However, the decreases were completely offset by increased inflation for: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 11.7 percent to 12.2 percent); and transport (from 10.2 percent to 10.8 percent). Inflation was unchanged for: health (4.9 percent); communication (0.6 percent); recreation and culture (5.8 percent); education (6.4 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (1.1 percent).

The trimmed mean measure of core inflation remained unchanged at 7.1 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices decreased from 6.9 percent to 6.8 percent.
