Headline inflation increased to 7.4 percent in November, from 7.1 percent in September.  Inflation decreased for two major commodity groups: food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 7.6 percent to 7.4 percent); and housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 5.6 percent to 5.4 percent). However, this was more than offset by increased inflation for: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 9.2 percent to 11.7 percent); furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance transport (from 5.6 percent to 5.7 percent); transport (from 10.0 percent to 10.2 percent); recreation and culture (from 5.5 percent to 5.8 percent); restaurants and hotels (from 8.8 percent to 10.0 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (from 0.9 percent to 1.1 percent). Inflation was unchanged for clothing and footwear (7.0 percent); health (4.9 percent); communication (0.6 percent); and education (6.4 percent).

The trimmed mean measure of core inflation rose from 6.7 percent to 7.1 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices increased from 6.6 percent to 6.9 percent.
