According to estimates published today by Statistics Botswana, gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 8.7 percent in real terms in the twelve months to June 2012. As well as estimates for the second quarter, extensive revisions have been made to estimates for earlier years arising from rebasing the accounts using 2006 prices, methodological updates and additional data sources. Notably, estimates for mining and water and electricity have both been revised downwards, while those for manufacturing, trade, hotels and restaurants and financial and business services have risen.
