In July, headline inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was unchanged from June at 7.3 percent. Inflation increased in several commodity groups, including: food (from 7.8 percent to 8.0 percent); alcoholic beverages and tobacco(from 7.0 percent to 7.1 percent); health (from 5.9 percent to 6.4 percent); transport (from 10.4 percent to 11.1 percent); recreation and culture (from 4.9 percent to 5.1 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (from 1.4 percent to 1.5 percent). However, these increases were offset by lower inflation for: clothing and footwear (from 6.6 percent to 6.1 percent); housing water, electricity, gas and other fuels (from 8.0 percent to 7.4 percent);furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 7.5 percent to 7.4 percent); andrestaurants and hotels (from 6.8 percent to 6.5 percent). Inflation for communicationand education was unchanged at 0.6 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively.
The trimmed mean measure of core inflation was unchanged at 6.8 percent, while inflation excluding administered prices rose slightly, from 6.4 percent to 6.5 percent.
