Standard and Poor's (S&P) has undertaken a reassessment of the 2011 sovereign credit ratings for Botswana due to revisions to criteria used in determining the ratings. As a result, the local currency rating has been adjusted down to be in line with the foreign currency rating, which remains unchanged. The stable outlook is also unchanged, and S & P continues to express confidence in the authorities’ management of the economy.
