Strong seasonal demand for securities in anticipation of dividend payments resulted in the Domestic Companies Index (DCI) closing the week ending August 19 in positive territory. The Index closed at 7 401.09 points, up by 156.63 points (2.16 percent) from 7 244.46 points the previous week. For the year to date, the index has risen by 15.41 percent. The Foreign Companies Index (FCI) closed the week at 1 807.57 points. A total of 4.8 million securities were traded during the week.
In another development, Iamgold has delisted from the BSE because the volumes traded did not justify the costs of maintaining the listing. However, the mining company’s shares continue to be traded in New York and Toronto.
