In July, headline inflation as measured by the CPI fell to 7.0 percent, down 0.7 percentage points from 7.7 percent in June. This reflected a broad-based decline that affected most commodity groups. Inflation fell for food (from 4.5 percent to 3.3 percent), alcohol and tobacco (from 8.3 percent to 7.8 percent), clothing and footwear (8 percent to 6.4 percent), housing, water and fuels (from 7.9 percent to 7.8 percent), furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance (from 9.2 percent to 8.3 percent), transport (from 13.1 percent to 12.8 percent), restaurants and hotels (8.4 percent to 8.0 percent), and miscellaneous goods and services (8.3 percent to 7.1 percent). Inflation only rose for recreation and culture (from 4.1 percent to 6.2 percent), and health (3.1 percent to 3.2 percent), while remaining unchanged for both communication and education. The trimmed mean measure of core inflation fell from 8.1 percent to 7.6 percent while, excluding administered prices, inflation also declined to 6.1 percent, down from 6.9 percent.
